Year 5

During Science week, Clapgate got to do lots of exciting experiments every afternoon. Then on the fourth day of science week we got to go to different year groups around school and investigate different experiments. We made square bubbles, slime, lava lamps and looked at dissolving. We had lots of fun and made sure that we understood the different scientific reasoning behind each experiment. Our focus in class all week was forces. We learnt about gravity, air resistance and water resistance. We tested these forces using balloons, bin bags and different plasticine shapes.

5MB - Forces

This half term we have been looking at forces and how they are felt upon everyday objects and movement. We experimented with air resistance, drag, water resistance and gravity using a variety of materials. Here is an example of the children trying to keep their balloons up using air as a force, and them falling down again based on gravity.
