Year 3

This half term, year 3 are looking at animals including humans.

We started by recapping what we already knew about animals by playing Diet Riot! Working in teams, we had to collect pictures of animals, read what they ate and decide if they were a herbivore, omnivore or carnivore.

We then started to look at what nutrition and diet means and how humans need protein, carbohydrates, dairy products, fruit and vegetables and some oils and fats to stay healthy. We designed our own healthy meals.

We looked at skeletons! We talked about the importance of them and how we need them to move and stay upright. If we didn't have a skeleton, we'd all be blobs on the floor! 3EB were surprised to find out that adults have 206 bones in their body, and that 26 bones are in one foot!

We also learnt that bones are very important as they protect organs inside our bodies.
