Year 1

London is our capital city!

In Geography this week the children looked in more detail at the city of London. We used our previous learning to help us remember the different landmarks in London and then we worked in groups to create our own maps showing the city.

This week we have combined Geography and Art together. The children discussed the different countries that belong to the United Kingdom and spoke about the similarities and differences between the flags. The children then chose their favourite flag to paint. They mixed their own colours using powder paints. Well done Year 1.

In Geography the children continued their learning of the United Kingdom and what countries make the union. Today we focused on Northern Ireland and Wales. The children were given fact cards about each country concentrating on their capital cities and fun known facts. The children were then split into two teams- NI and Wales. They had to collect all the facts relevant to their country and discuss which country they would prefer to live in. Well done Year 1.
