Summer 2 - Giants

Our Coal Mining Trip photos are on our Summer 1 Fairy Tale Forest page.

We can’t believe we’re in our final half term of the academic year!  We have absolutely loved teaching and getting to know your wonderful children.  We are proud of them all and we feel they will most certainly be ready for their new year 3 class in September.

Our final learning adventure this half term is, Giants.  We will be reading a legend about giants and how the Giant’s Causeway in Ireland was made.  We will also be finding out about giants in space—the planets of our solar system— as well as a giant of the ocean, the big blue whale.

There's been a giant!

Year 2 pieced together the bits of letters found in the playground to see what the giant had left - a letter to Finn MacCool claiming to be the greatest giant around!

We have been making music using software on Purple Mash.  This has involved us selecting sounds to make a tune with a rhythm and changing the mood of a tune by altering the tempo, the volume and the types of instruments.

Sports and Health Week

We learned softball skills from Miss Fenwick.  We had a go at hitting the ball and fielding using the glove.  It was great fun!

We have been learning about giants in space - the planets!  We worked in groups to research and one of the gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune).  We became experts about our group's planet.   Then we presented our findings to the rest of the class.
