In 6NW, we will be having 2 learning adventures. In the afternoons we will be learning about rivers. We will be finding out how rivers are formed, how rivers are linked to the water cycle, the effect that pollution has on rivers and the various wildlife that is found living near or in a river.
Our second learning adventure will be based on the book ' The Witches' written by Roald Dahl. This is a great book that I am sure we will enjoy. We will be writing about the characters in the book, writing newspaper articles about events from the book and designing and making our own witch potions.
The week beginning Monday 10th June we went on a residential to Ingleborough. Despite the weather, we had a fantastic time! We took part in a range of activities ranging from walking, caving, tree climbing and gorge scrambling. A few of the activities challenged us to face our fears... We had a fantastic experience that we will remember for many years to come
During a writing lesson we read some of Roald Dahl's - The Witches. A little boy (Luke) found himself in a witches meeting. We formed a conscience alley for Luke to decided whether or not he should try to sneak out of the meeting. We then used the ideas from the conscience alley to write a balanced argument.
The week beginning Monday 24th June was Sport and Health week. On Monday we took part in Zumba and showed off our best dance moves!
We have been carrying out lots of work related to the Arts Award which we will be awarded at the end of the year. As part of an art project, we are learning to create sculptures with wire. In one lesson, we manipulated wire to create a human figure.
We have been learning about rivers and how they formed. Once we found out this information we created a model of a river system. We used mod rock to form that shape of the land. Once this dried and solidified we added painted to represent each part of the river system.
