This half term our topic is called 'Time to Travel'. We will be learning about lots of different types of transport and how they have changed over time.
We will be reading the Mrs Armitage books by Quentin Blake and will be writing letters, emails and stories related to these books. We will invent a new bike for Mrs Armitage and design our own cars. Our art lessons will involve studying the illustrations and artwork of Quentin Blake. In history we will explore how vehicles have changed over time and we will study the invention of the Rocket engine. Our trip to the National Railway Museum, York will help us to learn all about it.
Look out for upcoming bridge designs and we will be inviting parents to come and help us to make them!
So, a very exciting half term is ahead!
Here we are with our finished junk model vehicles:
Our art work is amazing! We studied the illustrations of Quentin Blake and watched a video about how he draws. Then we learned how to sketch in his style and how to use watercolour paint to add colour.
We had a great time at the National Railway Museum in York. The visit started with a workshop where we learned all about Stephenson's Rocket. We sat in a bullet train and had a ride on the miniature railway. Next we explored the halls and saw the Mallard train and the Flying Scotsman in the workshop. We finished with a quick look at the model railway. A fabulous day was had by all!
