Our next learning adventure is going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD. All aboard the 1EC rocket and lets take off into a SPECTACULAR SPACE.
To start our new learning adventure, we embarked on a Mission to Mars. It was SPECTACULAR! The children imagined becoming astronauts, collected their kit and strapped into a rocket ship to embark on a mission with NASA. The children loved it.
In history this week we have been learning about Neil Armstrong and how important he is to space history. In writing we created a fact file and researched different facts about his life. We really enjoyed it.
Neil Armstrong Fact Files.
DO YOU WANT TO BUY THE MOST AMAZING ROCKET?
In writing this week we have been learning all about persuasive writing and how to include persuasive writing into our adverts. We research the key features a advert needs before designing and writing an advert for our own rocket!
As part of our topic, Spectacular Space, we invited parents in to take part in building a space station! Before the lesson the children thought about the different areas of a space station and then they worked in groups to build one. Fantastic!
This week in ICT the children recapped their learning about sorting and grouping shapes depending on different characteristics. The children then used a Purple Mash program to group and sort shapes and stored the information onto a graph.
This week in writing the children received a letter from Tim Peake telling them about his time in space. He also introduced his favourite story Goodnight Spaceman. The children worked in small groups to create a series of questions, that they are going to use when replying to Tim’s letter tomorrow.
1EC has shown excellent behaviour and good work this half term and they chose to celebrate with a end of term PJ party! We danced, watched films, ate popcorn and enjoyed an afternoon in our PJS!
