Once Upon a Time
Welcome back to all of our children!
We hope you have had a fantastic Christmas holiday and are ready to get back to school for all of the exciting learning we have planned for this half term. This half term we will be basing our learning around the topic ‘Once Upon a Time.’ Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on the two traditional tales ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’ and ‘The Three Little Pigs’. This half term we will also be learning about the celebration of Chinese New Year.
This week we have had a break in and the culprit made a huge mess! We all became detectives and looked for clues to identify who had committed the crime.
Our amazing detective skills helped us to identify that the culprit was Goldilocks. We have helped the Police by writing down our clues.
We had a call from the Daddy Bear explaining that he had had his house broken into too. To help the Police when looking at the crime scene we have put the bears into the right size order.
We have been labelling the picture the Police sent over of the scene at the three bears house.
We have been making and tasting porridge this week.
We have been looking at our allotment bed and thinking about the vegetables we would like to plant in it. We went for a walk around the school grounds feeling different natural objects and thinking of words to describe how they feel.
In PE this half term we are working on our ball skills. We will be looking at rolling, throwing and catching, kicking and hitting different kinds of balls.
This week we have been using the laptops to type our name. we talked about what we use laptops for and how the keyboard is all capital letters. We used a letter arc to identify the letters we needed.
We have been thinking about the number 10 and have been focusing on doubling using different equipment.
This week we have been exploring the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears more. We have been writing questions to help us identify who Goldilocks is and have been exploring the different emotions in the story.
We have been independently labelling police officers and their special equipment.
We have been looking closely at our fingerprints.
We have enjoyed our singing lessons with Mr Jennings and enjoyed learning how to use the shakers.
We really enjoyed our Teddy Bears picnic. We invited our grown ups in and enjoyed looking through our learning adventure books with them.
