Physical activity – Pegging patterned socks/pants together

Invite your child to match up pairs of patterned or coloured socks (or the patterned pants from the printable resource in last week’s maths activity).

Tell your child that to keep each pair/set of two items together they are going to use a peg to secure them together.

Model to your child how to push down on a peg to make it open and how to release it again to allow the peg to close.

Encourage your child to peg the socks/pants together. This will develop and strengthen the muscles in their fingers and hands which are essential for early mark making and writing.
