Fire Fire!

Merry Christmas!

We finished off our topic by writing our own verses for London's Burning. The children tried so hard and we were really impressed with their creativity!

We finished our moving fire engines! How fantastic do they look?! You can read more about the process on the Year 2 D.T. page
We performed an experiment to see what happened to marshmallows when we bent, squashed, stretched, and twisted them. We wrote our predictions then performed the experiment. After that we got to eat them!
We have been thinking about how people involved in The Great Fire of London would have felt. We listened to a radio programme talking about Isabell's experiences in the fire and then the children worked in groups to create a drama piece based on it. Fantastic work!

We had a visit from Rothwell Fire Station as part of our topic Fire! Fire! The children were all so excited to learn about the different parts of a fire engine and they even got to climb inside!

We started off the term with a creative context day. Here are some photos showcasing some of the different activities related to fire - it's all a work in progress to be added to throughout the term.

Our Learning Adventure this term will focus around the Great Fire of London! Starting off with Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night, we will move towards the event of the Great Fire of London. On the way we will talk about keeping safe at home, design fire engines, and investigate the properties of marshmallows!
