Our focus for the start of this term has been based around the book 'Clockwork' by Philip Pullman. This is quite a dark story about a Prince, a Princess, a mini knight figurine and a mysterious clockmaker called Dr Kalmenius.
The children loved the twists and turns within the story and couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
The group acted out certain scenes so they could understand the emotions of the main characters and this was great fun.
Below are some examples of our writing based on the story.
The first examples are wanted posters of the sinister Sir Ironsoul. Notice how the children used examples of the text in making sure the reader doesn't utter the words that wake Sir Ironsoul on his relentless quest.
The second examples are of a diary entry as Prince Otto. You can also see the children's plans and highlighted examples of fronted adverbial.
Everyone in class is extremely proud of their finished work on display.
