This half term, the children have been learning about life in the Victorian times with a close focus on toys. We have compared new and old toys and also thought about the toys that rich and poor Victorian children played with.
The children visited Abbey House Museum. We had a fantastic day, the children enjoyed looking round the museum and seeing the old toys up close. A lady also showed us how the toys worked and let us play with them.
ICT - We are film makers
As part of our learning about Victorian toys, we have made peg dolls. Peg dolls were made by poor children as they could not afford to buy toys and real dolls. The children made them from wooden pegs, fabric, glue, felt tip pens and wool for the hair.
We have used the Ipad and worked as a group to create a plan to demonstrate how to make peg dolls using videoing equipment.
