Autumn 2

We have lots to celebrate…our learning adventure will take us through Bonfire Night, Witches and Wizards and of course Christmas! We will be doing lots of fun activities like making magic wands, mixing magic potions and posting letters to Santa! We will also be preparing for our Christmas concert with Nursery.

We have been labelling bonfire night scenes and drawing our own fireworks.

This week we have been talking about various celebrations. We discussed how we celebrated Halloween, things we saw on bonfire night and learnt about Diwali. As part of this we made our own Diva lamps out of paper plates.

We enjoyed painting sunflowers pictures and look forward to seeing them on display in the hall.

We have had lots of fun playing with the witch's slimy potions!

We have been independently adding items to the witch's brew.

We have been writing instructions for our own witch’s brew.

We have been thinking about the emotions of the witch in Room on the Broom.

As part of our outdoor learning we have been exploring the outdoor area and making our own magic wands!

We enjoyed learning about Children in Need, how we can help and who the charity helps. We even enjoyed participating in Joe Wicks’ big move.

This week we have been experimenting by making potions! We used our imagination and sensory experience whilst following instructions to make a potion. We worked together as a group and observed and discussed the changes that were taking place when the ingredients were mixed together. We talked about what the potion looked like and what colours we could see.

We have been working out doubles using numicon.

As part of outdoor learning we enjoyed getting dressed into our new waterproof suits and splashing in the puddles. We even worked magic and changed the colour of the puddles, using our feet to stir the potion!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

We have been looking at ways to represent 8.

We have been independently writing Christmas cards.

We enjoyed a walk to the local post office to post our letters to Santa!

Take a look at our fantastic homework projects!
