Me, Myself and Everybody
This half term we are learning about ourselves, our family and our community.
This week we have been learning about the different parts of our bodies. We have been labelling these parts using initial sounds.
We are learning all about number 1 this week. We have learnt how to show 1, one more and one less than one and how to double. We have been recapping our 2D shapes and learning about 1p.
We have been learning about number 2 this week. We have been thinking about how 2 is made, one more or one less and doubling 2. In groups we played a game where we quickly had to decide whether we were moving 1 or 2 places.
This week we have been using our senses to explore different items and labelling what we had touched, smelt and tasted.
We have been collaging faces.
We have been practising our rhythm this week and repeating beats.
We were really lucky this week and got to have a Judo taster session. We really enjoyed the different games we played and learning a Judo hold.
We are enjoying our music lessons we are learning to tap to a beat and keep a rhythm but have also been singing some familiar songs.
In maths we learn about one number a week. This week we have been learning about number 4. We have looked at how the number is made, how to represent the number and doubling, halving and sharing that number.
We have been thinking about the importance of tidying up after ourselves this week. We were able to label the mess that had been left in our classroom!
We have been practising our independent labelling.
Our very own Read, Write, Inc. classroom. The children have really enjoyed their new area of provision and have been teaching their own RWI lessons to their friends.
We have now learnt numbers 1-5 and we can all recognise the number and talk about how the number is made! We have been doubling, halving and sharing these numbers. We have started to look at weighing objects and learning about 3D shapes now.
We have been thinking about our families and have really enjoyed creating our own family tree.
We have started our Gruffalo topic now and have been getting creative making some lovely character collages.
