Active Leeds Competitions

Year 5/6 Gymnastics

 

On Monday 9th March, 5 of our Y5/6 gymnasts attended the Active Schools gymnastics competition. The gymnasts had been practising hard for months with Miss Beaumont in gymnastics club to learn the various routines involved.

The gymnasts had to individually perform a floor routine, body management routine and 2 vaults. 

Big well done to our superstar gymnasts who behaved amazingly, performed fantastically and did Clapgate proud! Your hard work paid off. Well done!

U11 Football

 

On Tuesday 3rd March, 12 of our Year 5 and Year 6 football team attended the Active Leeds football tournament. The teams played brilliantly, communicated well and used what they had learnt in our training sessions.

We had some spectacular goals, super saves and fab defending. The teams grew in confidence as the tournament continued. 

Our Year 5 team came 3rd overall and our Year 6 team came 4th overall. Well done to our teams!

Cheerleaders!

 

On Wednesday 26th February, 14 of our cheerleaders attended the Active Leeds Cheerleading competition. The team have been working on their routine for months with Harvey and Fallon from Dazl dance in our cheerleading after school club.

The children performed amazingly and remained cool and calm under pressure. Well done to our super cheerleaders!

Cross Country Finals

 

On Wednesday 5th February, 3 children from our cross country team attended the Active Leeds Cross Country Finals. This took place at Temple Newsam and the children ran in their age group. The children did very well and it is a huge achievement to make it to the finals and be classed as the best primary aged runners in Leeds. Well done to James, Harley and Ruben!

Y5/6 Girls Netball

 

On Tuesday 4th February, 14 girls from our Y5/6 Netball team represented the school in an Active Leeds come and try tournament. They learnt the basic rules of netball and discovered the different positions. The girls then played two games in which they played extremely well. Their communication, teamwork and physical skills were great! This led to the girls winning both their games! An amazing result for our superstar girls netball team! Well done!

KS2 Cross Country

On Friday 18th October, 13 children from our KS2 Cross Country team attended the Active Leeds event. 

The Year 3 ran a 900 metre route and the Year 5 and 6 team ran a 1500 metre route. All the athletes were brilliant and put in 100% effort. The team cheered one another on and all team members made Clapgate proud, well done to them all!

A special mention to Ruben, James D and Harley who have made it into the Cross Country finals on 5th February!

Year 5/6 Netball

On Wednesday 1st May, 14 of our Y5/6 Netball team took part in their first fixture and attended the Active Leeds High 5 Netball event. The team were split into an A and B team and played a total of 7 matches each. The children used their passing, shooting, attacking and defending skills that they had learnt in netball club with Miss Benson. Final results were 6th place for Clapgate A and 8th place for Clapgate B. Well done to all our players. Netball is certainly something we will continue to focus upon!

Year 5 Tag Rugby

 

On Thursday 25th April, 9 of our Year 5 Rugby team attended the Leeds Active Tag Rugby festival at Hunslet Warriors. The team received coaching from Shannon Lacey from Leeds Rhinos Women's team within their games. This really helped our team to develop their skills and game play with the players showing brilliant progress across the festival. The team lost 1 and won 2 games with some amazing tries being scored. Well done to our fantastic Year 5 Rugby team.

U9 Football 

 

On Thursday 21st March, our U9 Football team attended the Active Leeds Football tournament. The children have worked really hard in Football club and this showed within our games. The children worked well together and made good decisions within the games. Miss Fenwick was very impressed! The teams best results were 2 wins and 3 draws over the 10 games that they played. Well done to our players!

Key Steps 2 Gymnastics

 

On Monday 25th March, 5 of our Y3/4 Gymnasts attended the Active Leeds Key Steps 2 Gymnastics competition. After practising in our gymnastics club, the children performed two vaults, a floor routine and a body management routine each. All of the gymnasts did extremely well, especially as it was their first ever gymnastics competition! Well done to our fabulous gymnasts!
