Welcome to 6HT

Viking Day

On Monday 20th May we had a visit from Bodvar, a Viking warrior. He came to show us a range of Viking artefacts so we could explore how Vikings lived their lives. We also got to play a game of Dog and Geese and got to challenge ourselves with a Viking quiz. During the afternoon, we enjoyed a display of Viking warfare and got to challenge ourselves to life some of the heavy weapons and chain mail. Finally we finished our brilliant day with Viking spear wrestling, where we had two winners and a teachers final, which Mr Robins won. It was a fantastic day and we can't wait to learn more during the half term.

River Systems

We have been working hard on our recent topic rivers and found out lots of interesting facts. We used our knowledge to create 3d models using mod roc and then painting on the features. We also worked hard to produce an information leaflet to go with our model. It was great fun!

London Trip Christmas 2016

We have just returned from our brilliant residential to London, where we visited many of the famous London sights, including Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Leicester Square. We had a lovely evening meal at Pizza Hut and then went to see Matilda at The Cambridge Theatre. The following day we visited The Harry Potter Studios and got to see many of the famous sights from the films. It was a fabulous trip and one we will remember the rest of our lives.

Our Anglo Saxon Museum
On Monday 12th December we hosted our Anglo Saxon Museum to showcase all the brilliant work we have completed this half term. We showed off our Anglo Saxon villages, weapons, jewellery and even cooked some Anglo Saxon treats for the parents to try. Our children led the museum like real experts and the parents absolutely loved it!

Our Life-size Anglo Saxons

We have been learning about Anglo Saxons in 6HT and we have enjoyed finding out about King Vortigern and the warriors Hengest and Horsa, who helped invade Britain. We decided to create life-size images of some famous Anglo Saxons. First we drew around each other, then we added Anglo Saxon detail, finally we painted them and used collage to make them look as realistic as possible.

First of all I hope everyone had a wonderful summer break, I have loved hearing stories about all the adventures the children have had over the holidays.

I am extremely excited about teaching 6HT this year as I know we have a brilliant class, full of hard-working, enthusiastic pupils, who are a credit to our school.

All the children have come back to school with a smile on their faces and a real desire to learn and give everything 100%. I am already impressed with the high standard of work the children have produced.

If you have any concerns then please feel to come in and speak to me, my door is always open.

Miss Taylor
