We are 1GG! The children have enjoyed their first week in Year One, they have shared the amazing experiences from the summer holidays and being with their friends again. The children have fantastic enthusiasm for Year One and are ready to learn about our great topics in history, geography, science and ICT.
The children will be doing P.E on a Thursday afternoon so please bring your P.E kit at the beginning of the week ready for it.
Reading Books and Spellings:
Please can you make sure your child brings their reading book, reading record and spelling book on a Thursday each week. We will then send out a brand new reading book with an updated record book on Friday.
We have started our 'Who Am I?' topic in science and identifying our body parts. We have also used dog biscuit bones to create a human skeleton. Take a look at some of them:
We have been studying the story Funny Bones, the skeletons love to scare people. We went on our own adventure around the school to scare the teachers! The children did a fantastic job at scaring lots of teachers and children in the school.
Here are some photos:
The children were lucky enough to visit Santa Claus in his grotto at Clapgate! The children had a fantastic time and all received a small gift from Santa. Merry Christmas!
This half term we have been learning, reading and writing about fairytale stories. The children have written some fantastic stories based on Jack and the Beanstalk, written instructions of how to care for the beast in Beauty and the Beast and created storyboards about Little Red Riding Hood.
In writing, we have started our new half-term learning about space! The children are loving it already, their faces lit up to find the home corner had transformed into a spaceship. The children have loved playing in the area and planning for their alien attack.
