3LB - Online Safety
We have been looking at what it means to be safe online. As a class we discussed a variety of questions such as:
Why do we need a password?
What do we do if we lose our password?
Where are passwords needed?
What do we use the internet for?
How can we be safe on the internet?
The children came up with some brilliant ideas! We then used Purple Mash to gather our ideas. We then used the editing tool to change the font, size, colour and add a picture. Take a look at some of our fantastic work below.
3LB - Online safety
Carrying on with our online safety theme, 3LB looked at how much we can trust the information that is shared online. We talked about what we used the internet for at home such as; gaming, listening to music, netflix and buying things. We then talked about how we use it at school. We decided that we mostly use the internet for researching at school. I then asked the children; how do we know that what we are reading is true? The children discussed this and said the following:
- We know it is true because it has been written more than once.
- We know it is true because it is on a trustworthy website.
- We know it is true because it says so!
I then showed the children how easy it was to change a webpage with false information. The children then started to realise that you can't believe everything you read on the internet. The children then created their own "spoof" web page so that they could make others aware of this. Have a look at some of the ones we have started.
3AO Purple Mash
In 3AO we have been using the programme Purple Mash to help us across all our subjects. We have been exploring all the different parts f the website from the games to the cool subject pages. We are now moving onto looking at online safety!
