Summer 1

In our writing, we are continuing our work on endangered animals which children are very enthusiastic about. We will be writing our own information reports about lions and creating ‘Into the Jungle’ stories. Already, we have written a fantastic book review of our favourite stories and will be looking more closely at the charcaters and settings.

This half term we are using and applying everything we have learnt throughout the year. Children will be solving a variety of number calculations, jumping between addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will be solving tricky word problems and reasoning questions to become more confident .

Children will have the opportunity to read a wide range of texts including fiction and non-fiction books.

We will be making predictions about what is happening in a story and how the characters may be feeling and why.

Books we are reading in class include, You Wouldn’t Want to Be a Victorian Miner!, James and the Giant Peach, The Magic Finger and a variety of non- fiction texts about animals.
