Spring Term 1

5LB

This half term the children have been looking at "Ballads". We have been looking closely at a song by Adele. "Make you feel my love".

The children have listened to the song, found the beat and rhythm, discussed what they liked and disliked about the song and what they would want to change. The children had some fantastic opinions about the song and were confident enough to explain themselves. The children have been working over a number of weeks to sing the song and improve their vocals.

5LB - Boomwhackers

Year 5 have been extremely lucky this half term to be able to use the boomwhackers in their music lessons. The children have played a variety of songs and have progressed greatly throughout the half term. The children have used their concentration work to read the music and also their team work to encourage others when it is their turn to play. We have played songs such as; London's burning, happy birthday and twinkle twinkle.

2DP

In 2DP we had a great time using the boomwhackers to improvise along to our Charanga song I Wanna Play in a Band. The children were really mature and listened carefully to the beat and pitch of the music to play their instruments appropriately.

Boomwhackers!

We have just purchased some Boomwhackers which are plastic tubes that represent all the different notes on a scale. Each tube is coloured differently to help children understand musical notation. Below is a very short clip of a group of year 6 children that tested them out with Mr Robins.

We have also been using the boomwhackers in 2DP! The children have had loads of fun getting used to them.

Today the children have been using Boomwackers. The children loved using the tuned instrument to make different sounds and practised hitting them to a beat. We will be experimenting with the instrument throughout the term.

In our music lessons we are beginning to learn to play Boomwhackers. In our first lesson we got the chance to have a little play around and find out what they were all about. We can't wait to get started on learning how to play them correctly!

6LJ Music

Everyone in 6LJ has loved music this half term! We've enjoyed learning to play music using the boomwhackers and singing a range of great songs, as well as an Anglo-Saxon adaptation of the song 'Ghostbusters'.

4EB Friday Projects with a Music Theme

Year 4 Music-themed Friday Project

Two year 4 girls spent their Friday project time looking at the words of Three Little Birds, a song we are singing in school that was originally sung by Bob Marley. The girls rewrote their own version of the song linked to unicorns and then sang it to Mr Robins. They were happy for this video to go on here. This is their song.

3AO

In 3AO we have been looking at Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' and have been practising singing the song as well as clapping out the rhythm. We also have been lucky enough to use the Boom Whackers in class. We have looked at the differences in notes and how that changes the pitch.

4EB have really been working really hard on their Friday projects and for a second consecutive week, some of them wrote their own song lyrics, inspired by Bob Marley. They included a reggae song, a rap and then a song based on anti bullying. Here are some images of their songs.

RLS

In music this week we were very lucky and got to play the Boomwhackers. We started off by trying to play the church bells tune and then moved on to Twinkle Twinkle, Baa Baa Black Sheep and the Wheels on the Bus. We are getting very good at using the Boomwhackers and are looking forward to more practise!
