Science

In our Science lessons we will be learning about the conditions needed for plants to grow well.  We'll also be finding out what the stem, the leaves, the flower and the roots do as well as exploring how seeds are dispersed.

We had an amazing, fun day on our Science Day.  We continued our learning about plants and enjoyed lots of different activities.

The photographs that follow show us learning about the parts of plants that we eat and then we tasted some.  We ate roots, leaves, stems, seeds and fruits!

We weeded the flower beds and planted our own seeds and we dissected a flower to examine its individual parts.

Also, we designed and made our own seeds, thinking about how the design related to the dispersal method of the seed.

We finished the day with a plant trail around the school grounds, answering questions and collecting letters to spell out a word related to our learning about plants.

A great day was had by all!!

In Maths we have been measuring.  We used canes to make a tripod, we attached a yoghurt pot to it and then we used it to catapult ping pong balls across the playground!  We had great fun!  We used the trundle wheels to measure how far our ping pong balls travelled.

The tables in the classroom were covered in paper and we drew and measured lines.  We then checked and measured each other's lines.  We recorded our measurements in different ways.
