This half term Year 3 will be looking at The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We have the amazing opportunity to go and watch the play at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and we cannot wait it!
We will be doing lots of arts and crafts around the book such as: drawing what we see through the wardrobe doors; our own Aslan or White witch Collage and a winter collage based on Kurt Schwitters.
Year 3 will also have lots of opportunities for writing too! We will be writing a diary entry of Edmund's journey, a character description of the white witch and a setting description of Narnia.
This half term we will also be starting our "Friday projects". This is where the children have the chance to create their own magical world in any way they wish! I cannot wait to see the finished product!

The children will be looking at the local history of Belle Isle and Middleton. They will be looking at different landmarks around the area and looking at how they have changed over time. The children will also be looking closely at the railway and its impact on Leeds. They will be looking at the coal industry and how Matthew Murray saved the day! We will be writing fact files, diary entries and drawing pictures of the longest working steam engine, The Salamanca. We are so proud of our local area!
This half term we will be looking at light.
- We will be looking at different light sources and why we need them in our day to day lives.
- We will research how electricity has progressed over time.
- The children will investigate reflective surfaces and which is the best material for reflecting.
- Children will also investigate how the Sun, Earth and Moon work together to create night, day and seasons.
